The Family: A Proclamation to the World - Paragraph Seven

Hello Children,

Only a few more paragraphs left and I hope you are learning a lot about family and marriage. I hope you have the desire to return to live with Heavenly Father and to be more like him. This is the seventh paragraph of the proclamation.

"THE FAMILY is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed." The Family: A Proclamation to the World

We have learned that marriage is between a man and a woman is essential to God's plan. We each have important roles in family and the husband and wife have special responsibilities to help one another. We are all children of God and while times are changing, God's plan remains the same. So long as our lives are centered in the gospel w e are on the right path. Just like in the Primary song, "The Wiseman and the Foolish Man", building our home on a concrete and stable foundation is essential to help keep the commandments and have happiness in our lives. Always pray. Anything that comes up in your life that you have trouble with, you can pray for help. This also goes the other way. Showing gratitude is just as important. When Jesus healed the ten lepers, only one thanked Him. Can you imagine helping TEN people and only hearing thank you from ONE? The others ran off happy, but didn't share their gratitude with Jesus. Always be thankful and humble. Always be kind and forgiving. Show respect for everyone, tolerate their differences, show love and compassion to everyone. Your dad and I are here for you no matter what. We are here to help you become the responsible mother or father that you need to be to return to live with Him.

Love,

Mommy
